The restriction of Personal Identifying Information (PII) from users' view is a new feature of CAREWare and was added in beta build 577. It is applied to canned and custom reports on a field by field basis. These report restrictions are managed by permission groups in the Provider/User Manager and the Advanced Security Options menu.

To setup the PII encryption on reports:

  1. Login to the Central Administration domain
  2. Click on Administrative Options>Advanced Security Features>User Group Admin (Report)
  3. Highlight PII Restricted User Group and press F2 or click on F2: Edit Group Permissions
  4. Using the filter text box on the right search for the first additional field you would like to hide on a report
  5. Highlight the field and click Add to Template
  6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 for all fields you would like to hide
  7. When done press F1 or click on F1-Save
  8. Close back to the main menu

To apply the PII User Group to a user:

  1. Login to the Central Administration domain
  2. From the main menu go to Administrative Options>Provider/User Manager
  3. Expand Real Time Providers
  4. Double click on your provider domain name
  5. Expand Users
  6. Right click on a user's name and select Manage Report Field Restrictions
  7. Highlight a report group in the lower left box
  8. Press F2 or click on F2: Add Group to User
  9. Press F1 or click on F1-Save
  10. Press Close back to Administrative Options

To encrypt the PII fields on a report:

  1. From the main menu go to Reports
  2. Select one of the canned reports such as No Service in X Days
  3. Choose the appropreiate report scope
  4. Check the check box for Hide Personal Identifying Information *
  5. Run the report

  • If the CAREWare user has the restricted PII group applied to their user account, then the check box will already be checked and the field grayed out.
