To unlock a user account using the Provider/User Manager:

  1. Log in to the Central Administration Domain.
  2. Click Administrative Options.
  3. Click Provider/User Manager.
  4. Expand Central Administration’s Users and Permission.
  5. Expand Users
  6. Right click on the user account that is locked.
  7. Click Undo User Lockout.

How to unlock a user account in version 5, build 575 and higher:

  1. Log in to a Provider Domain
  2. Click Administrative Options
  3. Click User Administration
  4. Highlight the user name that is locked out
  5. Press F1 or click Undo User Lockout
    • You can also change the user's password at this time by pressing F3 or click Change Password

To unlock a user account using the CW Admin.exe:

  1. Go to the business tier directory. (default Location: C:\Program Files\CAREWare\RW CAREWare Business Tier).
  2. Right click on CW Admin.exe.
  3. Click Run as Administrator
  4. Press Stop Server
  5. Click on the Common Storage Settings
  6. Locate the "ResetLockoutAndPasswordForUser" in the cmm_st_pk column.
  7. In the cmm_st_text column next to the "ResetLockoutAndPasswordForUser," enter the user account you want to unlock, and then click on another column/row.
  8. Click on the Server Settings tab.
  9. Start the server and close the CW Admin.exe.
  10. Log in to CAREWare using the locked account.
  11. You will be prompted to provide a new password. Passwords must be 8 characters long and contain 2 alpha numeric characters.
  12. The account should now be unlocked; you will be prompted again to log in to CAREWare.

As of build 891, a Password Reset Manager feature can be setup so users can unlock their accounts. To setup the Password Reset Manager click here.
