There is no current documentation on how to use the attachment custom field. I have included below the necessary steps to create a custom attachment field and how to use it on the client screen.

To create an attachment custom field:

1) Login to CAREWare 2) Goto Administrative Options>Custom Features>Custom Client Fields 3) Click Add/Edit/Activate Controls 4) Click Create New Control 5) Provide the field name for the attachment 6) Choose Attachment from the Control Data Type pull down menu 7) In the Allowed Field Types enter the allowed attachment extensions. Ex. ZIP;DOC;JPG Note: The ; is required between each extension 8) Click on the three dots in a box for Control Types 9) Click Add 10) Enter a control type name to identify the separate attachment extensions or the category for the attachment Ex. Xray or JPG 11) Click Save 12) Continue adding control type names for each category necessary 13) Click Exit 14) Click Save 15) Make sure the new attachment field is Active = Yes and close back to main menu

To use the attachment field on a client:

1) Login to CAREWare 2) Find a client 3) Go to the Custom Tab 1* 4) Click on Attachments ** 5) Click Attach New Fields 6) Browse for the file on the local PC and select it 7) Click Open 8) Select the Control Type from the pull down menu 9) Enter any comments necessary 10) Click Save

  • The attachment custom field can vary by location; i.e. custom tab 1, 2, 3 or custom subform
