Medication names can be changed by adding a custom medication name for that medication. This is how brand names can be applied to generic medication names. Custom medication names can be transferred to other providers by using the Custom Name Centralization menu in the Medication Setup menu in Clinical Encounter Setup.
Log into the Central Administration domain.
Click Administrative Options
Click Clinical Encounter Setup
Click Medications Setup
Select the provider that will have a custom name for a medication.
Check Use Custom Name
Click Edit custom name for selected medication
Edit the Custom Name field
Click Save
Click Custom Name Centralization
Type the name of the provider that already has the custom medication name in the Seed Provider field. Check the check box for the seed provider and the other provider that will gain the new custom medication name. In this case, the custom medication name will be attributed to the ADAP domain. This can be done with any provider domain as well.
