In some cases the business tier will become locked during a data tier update. If the data tier update fails at DTUpdate 84.6424, check the database to be sure the cw_service_category table is there and that the srv_ct_rsr_defined column is there.

To check for the table:

  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Connect to the CAREWare database instance.
  3. Expand Databases.
  4. Expand CW_Data.
  5. Expand Tables.
  6. Right Click cw_service_category.
  7. Click Select Top 1000 Rows.

If the cw_service_category table is there, and the srv_ct_rsr_defined column is there, skip that DTUpdate by following these instructions:

  1. Go to the CW_Admin Utility.
*Located at:C:\Program Files (x86)\CAREWare\RW CAREWare Business Tier by default.
  2. Right click CW_Admin.
  3. Click Run as Administrator.
  4. Click Stop Server.
  5. Click Common Storage Table.
  6. Double click on the cmm_st_number column for the Data Tier Version.
  7. Type in 84.6424.
  8. Click on any other box to save
  9. Click Server Settings
  10. Click Start Server.

If the srv_ct_rsr_defined column is not in the database, restart the business tier by following the instructions here. If the business tier is still locked, contact the CAREWare Help Desk by following the instructions here. Click here to download these instructions.
