When I change the allow search results value in the business tier settings file nothing happens, how do I make the changes take affect?

The allow search results value in the Business Tier Settings file is the maximum number of results that the business tier will return for a given search. In order to change the number of patients in the list, you must also change the max results value.

The allow search results value is set in CW Admin. This utility can be found in the business tier directory (Default location: C:\Program Files\CAREWare\RW CAREWare Business Tier).

Note: The location is different in the CW Admin utility between version 4.1 and 5 of CAREWare.

In version 4.1:

  1. Go to the business tier directory and open the CW Admin utility.
  2. Press “Stop Server”, then change the Table Name to LocalNumberStorage
  3. Locate for the tag MaxSearchResults.
  4. Click on the tag and then press “Edit”.
  5. Change the number to the desired number.
  6. Click “Save” and then “Start Server” for the changes to take affect.

In version 5:

  1. Open the utility and press “Stop Server”.
  2. Click on the Common Storage Settings tab.
  3. Locate the “MaxSearchResults” row in the cmm_st_pk row
  4. Change the value for that row in the cmm_st_number column to your liking.
  5. Click on a different row/column to save the change.
  6. Click on the "Server Settings" tab.
  7. Click on "Start Server".
