To completely remove SQL Server 2008 from a PC/server you will need a Windows user account with permission granted to add/remove programs. Once the uninstall is complete you will no longer be able to connect to the removed SQL Server instance. If your CAREWare data was contained in the uninstalled SQL Server instance, then you will be able to move or copy the database to another PC or SQL Server instance using the SQL ATTACH command.

  1. Click on Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs
  2. Locate Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and highlight it
  3. Click Remove
  4. A new box will appear labeled SQL Server 2008. Click on the Remove option
  5. Allow the Setup Support Rules to run and verify all statues are marked 'Passed' once it is complete. Click OK
  6. Choose the SQL instance to remove using the pull menu next to 'Instance to remove features from:'
  7. Click Next
  8. Click the Select All button to check all check boxes in order remove the entire SQL instance
  9. Click Next
  10. Allow the Removal Rules to run and verify all status are marked 'Passed' once it is complete. Click Next
  11. Click Remove
  12. Once the removal of the SQL Server instance is complete verify all statuses are marked 'Success' click Next
  13. Click Close
