Error - The business tier is currently locked for the following purpose(s): * Unable to update the Data Tier. You will not be able to log in until the problem is fixed. Contact technical support so that they can view the event logs. DTUpdate 89.7 DTUpdate 89.7 failed

Is there a cw_daily_tasks table in the CW_Data database? This can be checked using SQL Server Management Studio on the database server.
  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Click Connect, after selecting the CAREWare database instance.
  3. Expand Databases.
  4. Expand CW_Data.

Scroll down to verify the cw_daily_tasks table is there. If not;

  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Click Connect, for the CAREWare database instance.
  3. Expand Databases.
  4. Right CW_Data.
  5. Click Properties.
  6. Click Options.

Verify that the Compatibility Level is set to the save version of SQL used for that database. (i.e. SQL Server 2008 mode and the database instance is 10.0 or 10.5)

Here is a list of SQL Server numbers to verify the version.

If SQL Server is operating in the correct Compatibility Level and cw_daily_tasks is missing, follow the instructions here.

If SQL Server is operating the correct Compatibility Level and cw_daily_tasks is in the database, follow the instructions below:
  1. Right click CW Admin.
*(located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\CAREWare\RW CAREWare Business Tier folder by default.)
  2. Click Run as Administrator.
  3. Click Stop Server.
  4. Click Common Storage Settings.
  5. Change the DataTierVersion number to 84.5. (in the last cell in the row)
  6. Click on another row to save change and return to Server Settings tab to Start the Server.
  7. Click Server Settings.
  8. Click Start Server.

If you get another DTupdate failed error with a different DTupdate number, repeat the above steps but change the DataTierVersion number to 91.85, restart the server and log in again. If the above steps don't work, send us the business tier event log. The event logs are found in the RW CAREWare Business Tier directory (on the server) and in the RW CAREWare Client Tier on the local PC. They are named cw_events_mm_dd.txt where mm_dd stands for the month and day of the file.
